Sail Szczecin 2026: Bonawentura

More information

She is the only ketch in Poland with the rare Va Marie rig, featuring a distinctive ribbed gaff.

The vessel was built in 1948 at the Northern Shipyard in Gdańsk (then operating as Shipyard No. 3). She was originally launched as a wooden, oak-built MIR-20A fishing cutter, a modified version of the popular pre-war MIR-20 design.

The plans for the vessel were prepared during the German occupation by a team led by engineer Wojciech Orszulok, who later became the designer of numerous ships and yachts, including the schooner Zew Morza. A total of 16 cutters of this series were built, but only one has survived to the present day.
