Sail Szczecin 2026: Bryza H
More information
Originally, the vessel had nothing to do with sailing or tourism. She was built to order for the Polish Maritime Rescue Service as an auxiliary support vessel.
After the Second World War, the Polish coastline—especially the Gulf of Gdańsk and the Bay of Puck—was strewn with the wrecks of ships and naval vessels. Some had sunk in combat, while others, such as the massive battleship Gneisenau, were deliberately scuttled by the retreating German forces to block access to the Port of Gdynia. Clearing these wartime remnants took many years and required enormous resources and effort. Much of this work would not have been possible without divers. It was for their operations that the auxiliary towing and diving vessel Pucka Bryza was built. She was constructed in 1952 at the Fishing Repair Base in Puck, Poland
